Artwork Appreciation
Etan Pavavalung's Van Gogh Gives Me a Sunflower echoes with sunflowers in Van Gogh's paintings. He uses lilies, feathers, and clay pots to symbolize his cultural background. Van Gogh's Sunflower series is full of strong personal emotions, and the colors in the picture are full of saturation and tension. Etan Pavavalung completes four works to imagine that Van Gogh took the Sunflower that he painted to Taiwan to meet with the aborigines. In more than a hundred years ago, they exchange each other's lines, colors, and enthusiasm in artistic creation. Through this imaginative mutual observation, the dialogue between "Taiwanese aboriginal art" and "Western art" has emerged, enriching the aboriginal art vision.
