The monochrome background, geometric figures, and minimalist line images have become a creative style of WU Tung-Lung. In Symbol-88, he deliberately removes artificial traces, such as pigment stacking or brush mixing. The black patterns in the middle have irregular geometric edges with sharp angles and are highlighted by the dark red monochrome background. The visible but indistinguishable abstract symbols reveal the delicate handmade texture on the background, creating a balanced and coordinated spatial depth. WU Tung-Lung began to create the Symbol series in 2002, using linear, color blocks, volume, space and other elements to explore the symbolic expression of organic forms and the rhythmic arrangement of geometric lines.
