Artwork Appreciation
Artist Wu Tung-Lung has devoted himself to abstract painting for a long time, using a single-color system, minimalist graphics, and calm, elegant tones to establish a unique aesthetic style. His creative process begins with the selection of calico fabrics, and then he uses classical, meticulous craft procedures to mount them on wood panels. He applies animal glues and diluted plaster step by step to create different textures for the canvas he will work on. Then he begins the coloring stage. First, he determines the background color, uses tape to assist in marking out the graphics, colors the graphics, and finally tears off the tape. Only then can the entire composition really be seen for the first time. The core of Symbol-132 is the dark blue shape at the center, and the background is a relatively rare shade of pink. Throughout the work, the sense that this is something manmade has been removed, but under the calm, rational surface, there is a subtle warmth and changes of texture, full of personal emotions.
