作品賞析
Artist Hung Hsuan not only explores analogies between common construction methods and materials used in contemporary architecture and the techniques of ink painting to find further creative inspiration, but also embodies the concept of “environmental reuse.” Her work, I’d Stroll to Seek the Fountainhead IV, is made from broken cement bricks she scavenged from demolition sites. Hung Hsuan employs her skill in ink painting to discover oriental charm in everyday materials, transforming humble fragments from construction sites into unique stones within her imagined landscape. Using remnant rebar and iron bars from the original cement bricks as a foundation, she welds them together to create a shape. She then grinds the red bricks into powder and paints them, reshaping them into bonsai-like shapes resembling red coral. Through her art, Hung Hsuan imbues these discarded materials with new cultural meaning and collectible value, while also expanding the possibilities of contemporary ink painting.
