Artist Lin Yi-Lung’s creative themes revolve around life’s trivia. He transforms the fragmented images and sensory data in his memory into various strange-looking, fantastic living things, and the places where they live. Lin Yi-Lung, who lives by a river, condenses the view of four seasons on the riverside in his work Stardust (In the Night). The verdant land is densely covered with plants, and animals are cleverly hiding among them. There are two versions for this etching, for day and night. For the technique, he applied special golden ink to the etched copper plate and transferred it to white and black paper respectively, allowing the same scene to show different emotions. Since the images of gravure prints are mostly composed of a large number of lines and dots, the combination of black and gold colors makes the style of the work realistic and gorgeous, and the fantastic creatures add an air of mystery to the entire piece.
