作品賞析
The artist Yeh Jen-Kun characteristically uses ink and Eastern gouache techniques to depict urban scenes. He created the work Forest having been inspired by common artificial garden landscapes that imitate the natural environment. He composed the painting from the perspective of “looking at the palace from the mountains and forests,” using deep blue to represent the magical moment when day turns to night, and white lines to outline the magnificent Chinese-style architecture. In front, there is a garden landscape with exotic elements like strange rocks and several bright red flamingos standing among them. These are pieced together to form a garden scene with a strongly artificial feeling to it—it is a deliberately created environment. The strange rocks were first made with silver foil, then processed with sulfur to give them a mottled texture. The entire work, through its combination of media and exotic images, presents a decadently gorgeous fantasy.
