The artist Huang Chih-Cheng recently started experimenting with using AI drawing programs to make sketches. For Stigmata 04, he gave the program the instruction, “a goddess under a curtain,” and finally one suitable image out of many was selected as a sketch. Huang Chih-Cheng believes that women symbolize mysterious and soft feminine power. He strengthened the concept by hiding the female body with a cloth, and having the folds of the cloth and the body curves pile up to form a hill. Around the top of the hill there is a very faint halo, which makes the painting as a whole look like a depiction of a sunrise, with a sacred mountain that seems to breathe. The many traces of ink spreading from the center to the surroundings in the painting seem like the bleeding wounds of the concealed goddess. The ink and copper foil that Huang Chih-Cheng uses to create layers on the canvas bring a mysterious atmosphere to the work, which conveys his voice of protest against the harm caused by sexism in society.
