The house standing in the center of Museum 2 is loaded with layers of earthen clumps resembling sedimentary layers and paleontological images, and a dinosaur is lying asleep on the ridge of the roof. The artist Huang Chih Cheng assembles the things of the world in montage. Against a desert background resembling that of the American West, he uses alloy foil and gold foil to add color richness to the picture. He creates a picture with a theatrical sense, and uses this to explore the complex issue of what “home” means. He believes that “home” is actually a kind of “replication.” The house represents the parents, who expect their children to replicate their successful living experience, and they also become the frame that “encloses” their children. The little dinosaur on the roof ridge symbolizes children who have escaped from their parents’ expectations and enjoy freedom, but its recumbent position implies that children cannot leave home all the time, and the traces of the influence of their original homes can still be faintly seen through their various living habits or personality traits.
