HUANG Chih-Cheng’s “Rusty Memory Home12” is based upon a family photograph and represents an attempt to convey how memory manifests in different forms as a result of time. Aluminum and silver foils are used as the basis, while family photographs are assembled within the composition. However, the people in the photograph was deliberately deleted, leaving only the marks of light and shadow. Viewers who gaze at the composition become drawn into the composition and assume the role of the characters depicted within. Silver foil oxidizes easily, while aluminum foil is relatively more stable. The characteristics of these two materials allow the work to assume different forms with time. HUANG Chih-Cheng uses this work to present images that may have existed in personal life and his memories, extracting and storing emotions left forgotten in the corner.
