The artist Liao Chi Yu focuses on the development of video art, and she is good at exploring life’s various delicate feelings by creating videos. Her video Bird is set in time and place through the use of the hand-painted sets of old-fashioned photo studios.In natural, rural scenes, the heroine in the film slowly tells a story of herself and a bird, and the images unfold somewhere between life, singing, and mythology. Although no actual bird is ever seen, the entire video is filled with the memories of the bird, associated myths, falling feathers, and other such imagery. The main character narrates and sings about her love for birds and how she gets along with them. At the same time, Liao Chi Yu talks about life and death, reincarnation and love. Birds evoke the idea of freedom, and falling feathers symbolize a reconciliation between perfection and imperfection.
