The artist Simon Chang has lived in Europe for many years. He studied in the Department of Photography at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and he is currently based in Slovenia. His video creations are based on humanistic stories in a multicultural background and incorporate perceptions of life experiences. They are close to reality, but have a strange and magical atmosphere. Daylight-saving Time consists of a series of black-and-white photographs that were developed by hand using the silver print process. When Simon Chang grew up in Taiwan, he was not personally familiar with the concept of daylight-saving time, but since living in Europe, he has had to adjust the clock twice per year. Here he begins with the idea of adjusting time, then uses long-term or multiple exposures to explore the meaning of reality, image, and time. The series presents a unique sense of time in the world of images.
