Simon CHANG’s work, Adagio, is a series of images in black and white photography, attempting to capture the state of slow flow. In the images, there are occasional road landscapes where the viewpoint disappears into the distance. There are also fragmented landscapes of buildings, or natural scenery such as forests or lakes. People are hidden like passerbys. In Italian, the word "adagio” means slow and soft, and it is often used by composers to indicate the delicate speed and emotion in a song. Simon CHANG tries to show the images between the real world and the dream through the contrast of light and shadow. With the most casual dynamics, the curve of speed is captured, and like the exciting but slender gestures of a conductor, it gives the image a time-lapsing rhythm and view.
