HU Mei-Hua used to work as nurse; she’s keen on exploring the toughness of creatures, and sees stray cats surviving the cold winter and hot summer, struggling with sickness and death, she created this series of Waves Don’t Cry. Waves Don’t Cry 2 applying layers of pink, yellow, and black paint to rebuild the street scene, in the center is the figure of a big cat, and at the bottom right are the dim shapes of the kittens. The light pink and yellow express the joy of life, meanwhile the thick black area implies the danger and uncertainty of the street. HU Mei-Hua uses abstract lines, and shapes to imbed the imagination and stories in the painting, and lead viewers to think about and value the nature of life.
