HU Mei-Hua conveys inner reflections from her experience in nursing work as well as the strength and infinite possibilities of life through abstract and semi-figurative presentations. Autumn Lotus Chronicle 1 shows the lifecycle of a lotus from growth, blossoming, fruiting, and its final decay, reflecting the inevitably of old age, sickness, and death. The overlapping gray and orange patches create a gentle yet warm atmosphere. Green lines, symbolizing the lotus stems and leaves, stretch upwards in curved rhythms while being decorated by orange, red, white, and black colors that symbolize the changes experienced by the lotus during its growth. Lotuses were used by HU Mei-Hua in order to illustrate gentleness that reveal the rare and fleeting beauty of life.
