CHEN I-Chun uses videography, experimental animation, and interactive arts as the main creative medium. She has long been concerned with social issues involving industry, middle and lower classes, and folktales. She uses poetic images to carry personal experiences between reality and illusion. The work, Shui Yuan Lin Legend – Fifth Episode, is a story of oral history that attempts to solve the mystery and exaggeration of legends by interviewing older families and villagers. CHEN I-Chun tries to reduce the color of the god in the story with cartoons, giving the work a lovely and colorful atmosphere and creating a real cartoon with historical significance of Taiwan. CHEN I-Chun takes the turmoil of social and political issues and the unpredictability of human desires as a reflection and hopes that a story of mythology can be used to inform the public the importance of kindness.
