CHEN I-Chun is skilled in combining materials from video recordings, animation, and oil painting to create works that focus on issues related to industrialization and class in social development. Perfect Cyborg – Candy Candy is a video recording presenting the well-known manga character Candy Candy, except that her face is replaced with an ever-changing electronic circuit board that ultimately exposes the truth behind her eternally youthful looks. CHEN I-Chun hopes to use this work to reflect upon technological advancements that gave the human race a literally infinite spectrum of possibilities, allowing people to use technology for acquiring knowledge and youth at the cost of privacy and self-identity.
