作品賞析

LEE Chi-Hsiang’s work, Gone, is one of his series of works using Taiwanese old glass windows as the main body of the painting. Glass windows are widely used in Taiwanese residences, providing beautifying and light-transmitting effects, as well as shelter and privacy. The artist creates a hyperrealism-like virtual effect with oil paintings, showing the window patterns and the objects hidden behind the patterns. He shuttles through the residential alleys, and suddenly glimpses at the arrangements displayed at the window or the light being reflected in just the right way, providing plenty of inspiration and imagination. When the viewer creates an endless guessing of the objects, the work is then divided into different meaningful spaces, both in front of the window and behind, which provides multiple layers for viewing. LEE Chi-Hsiang combines the objects themselves with the window patterns, giving the viewer the desire and imagination to watch and pry.
