LIN Jaw-Tsang uses daily objects in artworks, using a combination of different media to respond to creative mindsets while conveying personal reflections on reality and the external environment. Picked up a Cicada shows a broken piece of wood smothered by thick layers of black and red paint that contrast with the gray-white background while creating a richly layered and changing spatial atmosphere. A dried, black-colored branch is placed in the composition, initiating a dialectic dialog between the material and the image of the artwork. LIN Jaw-Tsang uses natural materials and a simple artistic vocabulary to convey his emotional ties with the land while conveying his inner memories and sensations.
