KANG Tian-Wang creates works of art based upon natural landscapes in Taiwan, which incorporated religious inspirations and fantasies in order to portray the surreal vision of living beings. Natural elements were integrated with the artist’s knowledge about life inspired by his artistic training and Buddhism, creating works that celebrate the beauty of the lands. Dwell in the Woods shows a verdant oasis in the middle of a desert-like land. Two equally massive trees with a dense crown of spreading branches are shown growing from bushes blooming with exotic flowers. A small snail crawls slowly across the center of the painting, with vines, branches, and leaves magically sprouting from its trail.
