HUANG Po-Hao’s The Macrocosm – Punk 10 uses ink painting brushwork and blank patches to create stark contrasts of the changing lines. The artist has accurately recreated details of a Mohawk hairstyle. Small and dense dots that border either side of the tall Mohawk at the center represent the short hair sprouting from the scalp. Different brushstrokes, dots, and lines were employed to represent the texture of hair upon the canvas. Clean approaches and composition were employed to portray the primal form of hair. The creation process utilized simple and repetitive manual motions to observe routine everyday chores, allowing the artist to manifest a microcosmic universe through minute dots and plain ink.
