With vivid contrasts achieved by meticulous shading, artist HUANG Bo-Hao’s piece Microcosm - Punk Head 9 accurately grasps the features of a punk rocker’s head, such as a tall, spiky band of hair, and stubble on the rest of his scalp. Huang composes the image by applying repeated points and strokes of ink. He wishes to convey more than just visual beauty: using simple yet repeated hand movements, he examines the trivialities of everyday life, giving the observer a view of a little universe in our lives through tiny dots and dull ink.
