HUANG Chin-Hua paints stones, using fine outlining brushes and gentle brushstrokes to illustrate overlapping circles that gradually form the smoothened texture of hard mountain stones. In Big Stone No. 14, HUANG Chin-Hua depicts the folds and contours of a rock that harbors the enigmatic essences of the mountains and ocaens while wearing the appearances of a living and breathing biological entity quietly floating in the vast cosmos. By employing repeated and overlapped physical movements, HUANG Chin-Hua was able to highlight the potential of accumulation, stacking, and repetition and how it could condense the entire cosmos into both a micro- and macro-scopic perspective. The resulting work illustrates the intangible rhythm dancing within the universe, like the journey of life which is in truth a lifelong adventure of self-discovery achieved through years of experience.
