SU Tzu-Han’s works are often combinations of small models with panel prints. Her Builder Advertising series investigates the incorporation of natural elements within real estate property advertisements designed to instill the desire and wonderful fantasies for the advertised properties while reminding us that all constructs are, after all, artificial, and usually less than what the advertisers are trying to peddle. Builders Advertising – Isle is a small composition created using meticulous and soft brushwork featuring a sewing machine, needle and threads, and tape. The artwork serves as a metaphorical symbol of the human artificiality of the seemingly beautiful island. The miniature model on the side, on the other hand, displays natural and beautiful elements depicted in the advertisement, generating a sweet irony that forces people to review the truthfulness of real estate ads.
