SU Tzu-Han is extremely skilled in using sweet grayish tones to illustrate cold unfeeling cityscapes, using warm tones and composition to reinterpret civilized lives that we have constructed for ourselves. Builders Advertising – House depicts a white house that look strikingly similar to milk cartons. The house, together with the geometrized living utilities that surround it, is depicted like a jigsaw puzzle that can be dissected and re-assembled at will. Hexagonal grids outside the painting are placed within a box like a small beehive, harboring numerous natural elements that have been isolated, packaged, and marketed as a commodity and assembly unit that help add value during real estate transactions. Through the use of sweet grayish tones, SU Tzu-Han provides a gentle yet persistent critique of our modern irony: Despite everyone’s wish to live in a perfect environment, we chose to search for natural ecology within the most artificial urban landscapes.
