WANG Liang-Yin is skilled in using the delicate medium of acrylic paint to create delicious looking treats. Sweetness symbolizes pleasure, and incites the human desire for taste. WANG Liang-Yin uses dessert as an object to elicit and observe the flow of desire and its realities and how it transforms into a way for people to experience life. Cake with Wings is dominated by a massive strawberry cake whose size has alienated it from its property as food, while the thick color used no longer entices our appetite. WANG Liang-Yin believes that our taste buds will only be activated when the cake melts in our mouth, and thus made use of drip painting techniques to emulate the melting process. Desserts may have a delicious appearance, but the dripping lines hint towards the corruption of extreme indulgence. The use of such vivid imagery allows WANG Liang-Yin to expose the truth and bankruptcy of our desires.
