Artist HO Isa examines the effect of social values on modern people by using the vocabulary and techniques of photography to explore the self-identity that the people build and live within. In Whose City Is My Home, we see towering city buildings, and scattered about the scene are ornaments, flowers and animals. Here, people hope to become someone else by splendidly adorning themselves. Though it seems quite ironic, it reveals the diverse values of city culture. The artist believes that the city is an assemblage of many households, and varying values and cultural ideas are the creative force behind the city’s diverse appearance. By pointing her camera upward, she takes a new look at the urban landscape, probing into the great infectious power of the modern city.
