Artwork Appreciation
CHANG Tzu-Ching employed methods for applying cake icing and cream upon her art creations, using these ritualistic and repetitive movements to generate a series of abstract works. Happiness is composed of two panels of different red-colored tones. Red paint squeezed out of a cream bag in concentric circular formations provide a dense and confusing presentation that looks like a religious totem. CHANG Tzu-Ching treats each drop of paint as a condensation of her memory, with each application of paint representing the condensing of life’s experiences. The act of painting is internalized as her motivation is employed as a means to harmonize with and gain experience from issues in everyday living.
