Artwork Appreciation
CHEN Shiau-Peng’s 1G is part of the series that serves as an extension to her early abstract works. The work inspired by puzzles and tangrams, integrating elements such as rigid shapes, straight lines, and geometry creates an infinite combination of abstract varieties to discuss the concept of forms and infinity. Various squares, triangles, and rectangles are arranged in an orderly fashion within the square-shaped frame and depicted using black, gray, and white tones. The minimalist color and shapes included an infinite range of imagination. CHEN Shiau-Peng uses the principles of modeling and color concepts, changing the meaning and functions of existing objects and signs, conveying the image of modern cities as well as the rhythm of life, and contemplating new possibilities for responding to the history of abstract painting.
