Artwork Appreciation
CHUANG Wo-Lung employed perspectives and colors to construct a transitional phase of personal life and experiences. Shifting and Recombination No. 25 shows contrasting colors of different shades in order to create an abstract city shattered into smaller pieces. Slivers and fragments of color scatter across the canvas to create a balance of space and color. CHUANG Wo-Lung believes that changing space and color is like an outdoor space that is continuously changing. The creative process therefore involved the displacement and assembly of different color patches, an analogy to a person orienting and adapting to the convoluted process called life.
