作品賞析
Artist Su Hsiao-Meng has been working on her “Compound” series for twenty years. She transforms metal wire, once an industrial material, into a medium capable of conveying emotions and ideas, showcasing the meticulous artistry of metalwork. Through her work, Su Hsiao-Meng explores the complex emotional relationships humans have with the environment and with other humans. This work weaves floral lines with flowing curves. A central red copper wire cuts across the white canvas, decisively dividing the space and creating visual tension. It conveys movement and fluidity, highlighting the flexibility and plasticity of the metal material. Because weaving has traditionally been performed by women, the work evokes a connection with women. Furthermore, the time-consuming nature of wire weaving creates a connection with the accumulation of time. Through this creative process, the metal element is skillfully transformed, revealing an inherent rhythm and harmony.
