作品賞析

SU Hsiao-Meng combines traditional weaving and metalworking technique to explore the relationship between human and the natural environment. The work Compound 2012-3 uses aluminum wires of silver, pink gold, and black. Colorful wires are woven into a metal net, forming a complex with biological images. In the work, lines are used as symbols to convey emotions. With the connections, thoughts expand outwards before they shrink to cover those traumatic ones. This work highlights the creative spirit of symbolism, and it is also the process of SU Hsiao-Meng's self-exploration. By using the metal threads and weaving techniques, her attempt of integrating Eastern culture into contemporary metalworking breaks through traditional limitations.
