作品賞析
Even in the most bustling cities, there are many neglected and hidden corners, such as ruins of old buildings, animal remains, and waste. The artist Hsiao Pei-I believes that although these things are dilapidated, discarded, or near death, time seems to condense on them, or that they are approaching eternity by a different way. She thus reorganizes and reconstructs the projection of her emotions concerning these ruins through the creative process, transforming them into landscapes of internal ruin. In Blooming in the Ruins II, she combined materials and elements such as silver foil, acrylic paints, and serigraphic print, and borrowed the aesthetics of Japanese ukiyo-e to enhance the composition’s beauty. There is a strong contrast with the silver foil in the background, which has been burned with sulfur, so that the dilapidated landscape appears more splendid and gorgeous. Hsiao Pei-I tries to beautify what she sees, and uses different viewpoints so that the ruins appear in a different light.
