作品賞析
Artist Hsieh Mu-Chi’s “Mountains” series of paintings make Taiwan’s natural mountain scenery their object. Hsieh projected images of mountains through a projector, then re-drew and reconstructed them. The round frame symbolizes the view through a telescope—a reminder to viewers that they are looking at the scene from afar. The mountains throughout this view are full of flat folds, and the artist depicts traces of light, which adds to the great number of delicate colors, and the mountain shapes are outlined. The mountains are somewhere between abstraction and representation. They are not just scenery but more like layers of image information, though the addition of several orange spray-paint-like strokes breaks the layering and connects the images more closely.
