HSIEH Mu-Chi’s works focus on interpretation. He often employs different methods and genres to create works that discuss the creator’s identity while building links between the creative process and the painting itself. Mount a Stone and Cry is a montage of landscapes and past historical moments. Landscapes are no longer purely landscapes, but views mixed with certain events and scenarios. Representative symbols fill the entire composition, and the only person displayed in the composition had its face blurred, giving him a poorly defined role. Drips, flat strokes, rubbings, and other forms of brushstrokes leave mottled trails that resemble our memories. HSIEH Mu-Chi uses painting as a means to remotely summon and excavate events that no longer exist so as to review their value and links to modern times.
