作品賞析
In the artist Yen Chun’s The Light That Has Been Touched by Waves, the right and left sides of the painting show parts of a palm frond, but the left admits a broader view, while the right zooms in on the tips of five or six of the frond’s leaflets. The lighting brings out the leaflets’ glossy texture, and in the close-up one can discern faint white lines where the veins are; as the light reflects from the leaflets, some parts become gold or silver, while the rest remains deep green. Plants usually can only passively accept what their environment provides—the intensity and direction of the light, the humidity in the air, or the nourishment from the soil. The leaflets on the left, their tips withered and yellow due to dehydration, reflect this passivity.
