YEH Tsai-Wei using glue color as medium, reflects on daily scenes and thoughts in her artworks. Fish Eye was made with glue color and silver foil, the light and shadow differing when different materials meet. The background is a red doily, and the famous Taiwanese cuisine of traditional roadside banquet "steamed fish" is placed in the middle. The fish is slightly curved, covered with onions, ginger and red peppers, and the silver foil emphasizes the fish eyes and scales. The artist relates her first name “Tsai-Wei” to the ascetic life style depicted in “Records of the Grand Historian—A Biography of Boyi and Shiji”, to contrast with the mundane life full of pompous food and ostentation, though one may admire the former still bending to the reality and getting lost in one’s position.
