LIN Wen-Chaing was once a member of documentary film production teams and embarked on a personal investigation of photography afterwards. “New Paradise 1” is taken from an abandoned indoor setting. The patched wall is left with a fresco depicting The Last Supper of the Christian religion, giving a strong contrast against the dilapidated and completely abandoned setting. A young deva on a lotus seat appears before the image, and seems to be trying to start a dialog with the people in the fresco, while an image of a fairy tale castle is provided outside the window. LIN Wen-Chiang has added these fantasy elements to generate a surreal sensation of dreams, ruin, and reality and to build a strange mortal paradise.
