LIN Wen-Chiang was involved in documentary prior to embarking upon a path of self-inspection through photography. Awakening/Enigma Part 3 is a series of photographic works that focus on personal spirituality. People are walking along a rustic countryside trail overgrown with wild plants. The people in front of the camera are just turning around to face the photographer, but the shadows of their hats have obscured their features. The shaky, black and white composition conveys a sense of detachment and subconscious confusion, suggesting that the photograph was taken at the heat of the moment without careful planning. LIN Wen-Chiang treats photography as a spontaneous experience with fateful encounters, with every photograph serving as a reflection of the photographer as well as the viewers.
