LIN Wen-Chiang was involved in documentary prior to embarking upon a path of self-inspection through photography. Awakening/Enigma Part 1 is a series of photographic works that focus on personal spirituality. The image shows 3 birds, a dog, and a human appearing in the urban greenery. None of the creatures are facing the lens, as though the photograph was taken at random without much thought. The shaky, black and white composition conveys a sense of detachment and subconscious confusion, suggesting that the photograph was taken at the heat of the moment without careful planning. LIN Wen-Chiang treats photography as a spontaneous experience with fateful encounters, with every photograph serving as a reflection of the photographer as well as the viewers.
