SUN Pei-Mao’s works portray bizarre settings that respond to the ephemeral and isolated sense of life. Unchoppable shows a natural landscape with its usual blue skies and green environment that portray a tree with bizarre colors as well as a man assuming an odd posture as though he’s ready to chop down the wood. SUN Pei-Mao’s works are montages and fixed frames from a video that evoke the viewers’ imaginations. The landscape is combined with a superficial and vulgar artificial environment, generating visual distortion and contradictions within the image. Surreal and irrational spatial elements are used to create another projection of realistic scenarios from real life.
