HSU Ming-Feng’s works integrate panel art, woodblock printing, and painting techniques in order to create a richly textured composition. Memory 8 is composed of architectural spaces constructed using lines in order to portray urban buildings. Thick layers of paint were applied to large areas of the chiseled woodblock to create a textured print. The somber colors and rich tactile sensations create natural marks that were imbued with raw energy. HSU Ming-Feng’s artworks include an elaborate portrayal of subsumed emotions, transforming landscapes from his memories into an internalized and abstract portrayal of inner sensations.
