HSU Ming-Feng is a skilled print artist. In Landscape of the Heart 11, HSU Ming-Feng used natural texture and lines of wooden boards to create an artistic space filled with overlapping surfaces and lines. This series of works is dominated by pale, elegant, and somber gray tones that rubbed, dissected, painted, scraped, and carved to create a highly emotional spatial composition. The work depicts a vast ocean connected to the heavens and surrounded by gray patches that symbolize the ever-changing clouds upon the ocean surface. HSU Ming-Feng utilized the thickness of paint as well as the texture, depressions, and ridges of the wood block to generate the transitory appearance of the seas. Clean lines combined with earnest color tones not only expresses the changing seas, but also reflects upon the inner world of the artist as well.
