In “Sport Venue”, artist Su Yu-Lan illustrates the ideal track and field in her mind, which should include a large field of grass, clay tracks, and a skating rink. Together with broadness and inclusiveness of the contrasting mountain and sea, people cannot help but to run and jump in such an attractive place. Su uses strongly contrasting bright colors, scattering red, green and blue in large portions of the painting. The scene is mostly presented through partial views, and many small objects are added to the painting, such as orange cones, lines for hopscotch, little mountain-shaped decorations. These objects are scattered around in the painting. The three places seem to be divided and separated, but actually, there are connections between the colors. However, by switching to various perspectives, the view outside of the frame is preserved for the imagination of the viewers, so that everyone’s ideal track and field can be fused with and projected onto the painting.
