LIAO Cheng-Ping applies the technique of photographic composition to his painting. He arranges composition elements on the canvass, such as vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines, to create particular painting forms. In this piece, American Highway, the artist uses scenic photographs taken at random as his blueprint. Getting his inspiration from the fleeting images, he creates three paintings with a horizontal composition that all express a sense of speed and movement, evoking memories of travel among his viewers and freeing their imagination.
