Artwork Appreciation
HSIEH Hong-Juin is an important artist who pays attention to women's issues in Taiwan. Her involvement in ideology and creation continues to create thought development on “feminine space”. In the work, Immanence Serries: With One Heart, the deformed lines floating in the picture are like the textures produced by squeezing the surface of the body. The Immanence series tells the scars of women, and the headless body symbolizes the sadness of restricted thoughts in women. They sit side by side with each other and seem to have mutual encouragement and comfort. Through the common physical and life experiences in different generations, they attain the power of rebirth. HSIEH Hong-Juin ponders the immanence in feminism and tries to explore how the status of women has been confined, hidden, and evetually, vanished in history.
