Artwork Appreciation
LIN Hsien-Chun has categorized his work as a cold abstract representation. Have No Attachment and Let Your Hearts Be Free! provides a gray, monotonous background against which fluorescent green and white lines are portrayed. The lines twist back and forth on the composition, randomly intersecting and diverging from each other. Despite the chaotic entanglements, the lines remain distinct and identifiable. The form is wholly constructed of lines, but when both overlap, a single form with new energy appears. LIN Hsien-Chun uses lines to create an ambivalent state of existence, using the Diamond Sutra of Buddhism as an analogy for the continuous state of change while hiding immense potential within various elements.
