Artwork Appreciation
WU Yu-Jou’s printmaking, The Scenery of the Hometown III, conveys the reflection of the coexistence of human and nature. The blue and white irregular square blocks overlap each other to bring a vivid visual experience to the picture. These color blocks also symbolize the ever-changing man-made structures. A thick black line abruptly sweeps through the center of the picture, covering the bottom of the colorful blocks. The dry texture and dripping marks destroy the original stability of the picture, much like an interference of a strong external force. WU Yu-Jou's abstract painting shows the prosperity when humans and nature coexist, but also begs the question, how long can this seemingly perfect world in front of one’s eyes really last?
