In Barbie is a little tired, a halo of light surrounds some plants, while pink, luminous raindrops fall from the sky. Artist Liang Yu-Ning believes, “Plants convey information through invisible energy,” and he uses the halo to express their vitality. In the painting, the leaves touched by pink raindrops are tinged with fluorescent pink, not only representing the leaves absorbing the healing energy brought by the raindrops, but also alluding to the energy exchange process that the artist experiences when caring for plants. Using acrylic paint and a homemade solvent, he creates crisp, transparent brushstrokes that contrast with the halo of leaves created with the airbrush. Liang Yu-Ning depicts plants with simple shapes, allowing viewers to focus on the use of paint and the textures displayed. The pun-like titles of his works not only add interest, but also hope to give viewers a broader appreciation and imagination.
