作品賞析
The artist Liang Yu-Ning finds most of his inspiration in plants. By observing the process of a bouquet of flowers from blooming to withering and even growing mold, he rethought the meaning of life and then created the work, A Bouquet of Flowers from Someone Else. In this painting, he used many layers of a slightly transparent, light, earthy yellow to create a fine color gradient along the edge of each withered flower, thus creating a kind of halo that contrasts with the thick, intense black in the background. The fading halo around the edges of the flowers vaguely suggests that they are wilting, but still cling to some vitality. The intersecting leaves and plant stems in the background have very clean lines through the cutting-and-masking technique, while the black of the background is layered to the point that some height over the surface is created. This treatment clearly separates the background from the bouquet, allowing the viewer to focus on the artist’s careful exploration of the theme of death and endlessly regenerating life.
