Artist Lin Yi-Pei views her creative life as an ever-evolving book, centered around emotion, destiny, and time. The various floral-patterned garments hanging between the tree trunk and the swing frame are collages of real fabric. The artist’s mother was a needlework woman before marriage. Although she became a full-time housewife after marriage, she still used her spare time to make clothes with floral fabrics. These floral patterns were deeply imprinted in the artist's childhood memories and became the origin of the floral fabric elements in her works. The floral patterns in the work come from real fabrics: remnants from clothing her mother had made and pieces cut from her own garments. The low-saturation colors, the trees with fallen branches and leaves, and the woman sitting alone on the swing make the overall picture reveal a sense of desolation. If you look closely, the eye pattern on the chest of the figure’s shirt seems to be crying, conveying a deep helplessness.
